Rose Vincent is currently a tenth grader at the Indian High School, Dubai. An academic achiever and all-rounder, she is a winner of the prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Award for Distinguished Academic Performance (Cycle 17). Her versatility and curiosity to explore and test her potential have led to accomplishments spanning both curricular and co-curricular realms. She received Certificate of Honour (Science), Certificate of High Distinction (English) and Certificate of Distinction (Maths) for the International Benchmark Tests, and achieved Distinguished Performance in the ASSET exams.

Rose is a voracious reader whose imagination and perspective as a writer is greatly influenced by characters and worlds created by Anton Chekhov, Douglas Adams, Arthur Conan Doyle, Paulo Coelho, RK Narayan, and many more writers dating back to Homer and Hesiod. She is a regular contributor to school magazines (eXpressions, LightHouse) and public news media (Gulf News, Young Times), and has won prizes in many contests. She won the Poetry Writing competition by SWATANTARA (Students Working Against Tobacco, Alcohol, Narcotic And Related Abuses) during Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations in 2016. She came 3rd for her community report in Gulf News.

She loves playing table tennis and chess and has won competitions in both sports. In the UAE Table Tennis Women’s Open Championship, she won bronze in 2016 (U12) and silver in 2019 (U18). She plays for Al Orooba Club, Fujairah in the UAE Women’s Table Tennis League. She finished 2nd in the Open Chess Event in 2017 conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI-Dubai). She represents the Dubai Chess and Culture Club in various tournaments including clubs from around the world. She plays for the school in CBSE Clusters for Table Tennis and Chess and won bronze in 2014 in Chess.

Rose hones her oratory and leadership skills through debates and as a member of the school council. She was the Sapphire House Vice-Captain and Captain (2014, 2015, 2020), eXpressions Coordinator (2017) and LightHouse Editor (2014, 2020). She has won awards in Model United Nations conferences, like Outstanding Delegate (Crisis in Indian Subcontinent, IHSMUN’18), Special Mention (Israel War Cabinet, VHSMUN’20), Honourable Mention (DISEC, PECMUN’20) and Diplomacy Award (DISEC, ROMUN’20) as well as recognised for outstanding performance in intra-school debate contest (2020).

An avid quizzer, Rose led the IHS team to victory at the Indian Consulate’s Inter-School Quiz Competition on Freedom Fighters as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. She was also the winner of the Online India Quiz conducted by ICAI-Dubai to commemorate the 75th Indian Independence Day. She was a part of the winning Sapphire House team in the Intra-School Quiz Competition in 2019. 

A student of Western Classical Music, Rose appeared for the Trinity College of London Singing examinations until Grade 6 and achieved Merit. She is currently preparing for Grade 8. She has also won prizes on various stages and participated in concerts. She is an active environmentalist and has participated in recycling, clean up, tree planting and awareness campaigns for Emirates Environmental Group and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
